Vic Moten named Gatorade Player of the Year
The Daphne pitcher was named the top player in Alabama by Gatorade.
For the second straight year, Daphne star Vic Moten was named the Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year.
The Gatorade Player of the Year program aims to honor the nation’s best high school athletes for their success on the field, in the classroom and in the community, and is in its 40th year of existence.
Moten has been one of the most dominant players in the state through the entirety of her high school career. She capped off her career in 2025 by posting a 23-4 record in the circle with a 0.79 ERA and 328 strikeouts. She also hit for a .438 average with 13 home runs and 36 RBIs on the year. Daphne reached the Class 7A state tournament led by her efforts.
“Moten can control a game completely from the circle,” said Dothan head coach Donny Bright, in a press release. “She only needs one to two runs to beat you, and she can give you those herself with one swing of the bat.”
A member of the Title IX Committee at Daphne High School, Moten has volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics and the nursery at her church. She has also donated her time as a youth softball instructor, coach and umpire. Moten has maintained a 3.27 GPA in the classroom as well.
Moten was one of two Alabama signees to win a state Gatorade honor. Kaitlyn Pallozzi won Michigan’s Player of the Year award as well, as she was 23-0 with a 0.14 ERA in the circle this spring. She struck out 351 batters over 146 innings.
