The South team swept the North team in the all-star doubleheader Wednesday night.
The annual AHSAA North-South All-Star Game took place Wednesday evening at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, a game that showcases many of the top rising seniors in the state of Alabama.
The South team swept the North squad in a doubleheader, winning 2-0 and 4-2. Ellie Cox (South) and Caitlyn Tedford (North) were named MVPs from their squads.
The trio of Ellie Cox (Wicksburg), Anna Jo Bonds (Satsuma) and Myleigh Dobbins (Saraland) combined for seven no-hit innings, the first game of its kind in the history of the all-star game.
Saint James’ Sydney Johnston and Dobbins each drove in a run to give the South its offense in the opening game.
The second game was a bit more back and forth. Bonds capped off a great performance by driving in three of the four runs for her team in the game, and pitched another scoreless inning.
Leroy’s Hannah Howard knocked in a run, and Central-Phenix City’s Mariah Harrison finished with two hits.
For the North team, Athens’ Caitlyn Tedford had two hits and an RBI, and Cat Schreiber of Madison Academy had two hits and pitched three innings. Thompson’s Kadyn Bush threw in both games, as did Alivia Lewis of Deshler.
