Lawrence County's thrilling comeback headlines Day 4
The high school softball regionals wrapped up Thursday.
The high school state softball tournament brackets are now set, after a wild fourth and final day of regionals.
We started the day with Lawrence County’s wild come-from-behind win to snatch the Q1 spot in the Class 5A North Regional. Trailing 8-3 to Ardmore, entering the bottom of the seventh, here’s what the Red Devils proceeded to do:

Also in the North, Makayli Davis struck out 19, as Colbert County grabbed the Q1 in Class 3A.
In the East, North Sand Mountain won three games on the day, including an upset of West End, to earn a state tournament berth for the first time in program history.
How about KK Butler and Hanceville? Who would’ve expected them to be Q1 in 3A? Outstanding job there.
Robyn Wortham-Thompson is taking Randolph County to the state tournament for the second straight year.
Springville has been one of the top 5A teams in the state in recent years, and has had plenty of demons at regionals over the years. But the Tigers showed great resolve Thursday, winning three games, including the Q2 game in walk-off fashion. Kynlee Taruc’s walk-off hit gave Springville the 6-5 win in eight innings.
At the Central Regional, Holtville put together a strong two days to be Q1 in 5A. But Beauregard bounced back from the early defeat, and Raegan Brooks threw a gem in the Q2 game. Brooks allowed just two hits in a complete game shutout in her team’s 4-0 win over Shelby County.
