Ambrey Taylor named Miss Softball
The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its Super All-State team.
Ambrey Taylor of Curry High School was named Miss Softball, recognized by the Alabama Sports Writers Association as the top player in the state during the 2025 season.
Taylor was announced as Miss Softball at the ASWA’s annual convention last Sunday in Jacksonville.
The Alabama signee put together an incredible career and a remarkable 2025 campaign, hitting for a .597 average, notching 105 hits, hitting 26 home runs and driving in 100 runs.
She is only the third player in state history to eclipse the century mark in RBIs in a single season. Sumiton Christian’s Jenna Ergle did it four times and G.W. Long’s Libby Baker did it once.
In accordance with Miss Softball, the ASWA released its Super All-State team as well, the top 10 players statewide regardless of classification:
Ambrey Taylor, Curry: earned Miss Softball honors after leading the Yellow Jackets to the Class 4A runner-up.
Gerritt Griggs, Central-Phenix City: The Alabama signee earned Class 7A Player of the Year honors by hitting .606, racking up 83 hits and stealing 73 bases.
Gracie Dees, Saraland: The South Alabama signee won Class 6A Player of the Year after moving to shortstop this year and leading the Spartans to a state runner-up finish. She hit .477 with 16 home runs.
KG Favors, Orange Beach: The South Carolina signee put together another stellar season, winning Class 4A Pitcher of the Year after posting a 20-1 record with a 0.90 earned run average for the state champions.
Vic Moten, Daphne: The third Alabama signee on this list won Class 7A Pitcher of the Year, going 23-5 with a 0.79 ERA. She struck out 328 batters on the year, which is over 60% of the hitters she faced.
Emily Needham, St. James: The South Alabama signee won Class 3A Pitcher of the Year after leading the Trojans to a state runner-up finish. She went 35-5 with a 0.82 ERA, striking out 430 hitters in 239 innings.
Corey Goguts, Hewitt-Trussville: The Ole Miss commit put together one of the best power displays in state history this year, hitting 31 home runs (tied for third in a single season).
Lilly Bethune, West Limestone: The Middle Tennessee commit also put together one of the best power displays in state history, hitting 31 home runs just like Goguts.
Ava Hodo, Orange Beach: The Arkansas commit continues to shine, hitting 15 home runs with 75 RBIs and a .564 average for her junior season.
Kendall Trimm, Moody: The UCF signee and Class 5A Player of the Year helped lead Moody to its first state title, hitting .496 with 10 homers and 67 RBIs.
